On Friday 11th October 2024, the NSW Independent Planning Commission announced that the the Plasrefine Moss Vale Plastics Recycling Facility (SSD-9409987) project has been referred to the them from the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure with a recommendation for it to proceed, despite the objections of State MPs, Wingecarribee Shire Council and residents.

The Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan said, “I can understand and share the disappointment at this recommendation, and I will continue to speak out against this project.

While outside of Wollondilly, air and water pollution doesn’t stop at the border of the electorate and many of my constituents work in and visit Moss Vale, and will be impacted by this project.”

“I know many have spoken against this project such as Wingecarribee Council and Wendy Tuckerman, the Member for Goulburn, I share these concerns and against the Plasrefine Plastics Recycling project.”

“With a project that affects air and water pollution concerns so close to homes, agriculture land, childcare centres and schools as well as increased heavy vehicle traffic a public meeting is appropriate. I would like to see an in person meeting and I encourage everyone to write submissions through the process.”

Currently, a public meeting is planned for 28th October from 9am and anyone wishing to present must pre-register using the speaker registration form by 12:00pm AEDT on Thursday 24 October 2024.
