The Australian Quilt Convention is Back in 2025
Australia’s premier quilting event, the Australasian Quilt Convention, is home to the globally renowned AQC Challenge and organisers are thrilled to announce that the theme for the 2025 Challenge is “On the Map.” Quilters of all ages, skill levels and from all around the globe are invited to create a 90cm x 90 cm quilt that captures their creative interpretation of the theme.
The Australasian Quilt Convention will return to the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne between April 10 – April 13 2025. With outstanding exhibitions including the AQC Challenge, displays and educational opportunities from world-class quilting talent, the event will feature workshops, free seminars, specialist retailers and new trends and equipment. It is the perfect day out for lovers of textiles and quilting.
The AQC Challenge quilts will be judged based on the interpretation of the theme, as well as excellence in design and craftsmanship. The theme “On the Map” encourages quilters to interpret the theme creatively, allowing for a broad range of artistic expression among the entries.
Each year the competition sees incredible entries from all over the world. Entrants can submit images of their completed quilts ($30 fee per quilt) at https://aqc.com.au/2025-aqc-challenge/, before Thursday 6th February 2025, for the exciting opportunity to be selected as one of the 30 finalists for 2025.
Finalists will have their outstanding quilts viewed by thousands of quilting enthusiasts from around the country and displayed at events around Australia. They will also be in the running to win cash prizes – $3,500 for First Prize, $1,500 for Runner-Up and $500 for Viewers Choice, chosen by the attendees of the Australasian Quilt Convention.
