After years of waiting, Bomaderry students are in for a boost as construction work begins on the multi-million dollar upgrade of Bomaderry High School.

Upgrade works at Bomaderry High School will include the refurbishment of 46 existing classrooms, while six new classrooms will be built, along with upgraded toilets, accessibility improvements, and new administration space and Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) workshops including a wood and metal workshop and a food technology classroom.

The Minns Labor Government is working to rebuild public education in NSW, and has made a record investment in building new and upgrading schools in the 2024-25 Budget, including $1.4 billion for schools in regional NSW.

“The Bomaderry community has waited far too long for improvements to be made to their school, but today we can celebrate progress.

“We are focused on delivering for regional communities, so all students can access high-quality schools in their local areas.”

Duty MLC for Kiama Dr Sarah Kaine said, “I am pleased that we are funding this important upgrade.

“This isn’t just about building classrooms, it is about building futures – equipping our students with practical skills that can lead them to meaningful careers.

“The new building will provide facilities for food technology, woodwork and metal work, providing our students with the resources they need to gain hands on experience and skills that will serve them for life.”

“We know not every path through school, or after school, looks the same. The upgrades to the school’s existing kitchen will enable students to complete Stage 5 and 6 VET courses at the school providing them with more choice and opportunity both in school and after.”

Ian Morris, Bomaderry High School Principal said, “A modern school environment will inspire creativity and innovation in our students and empower our students to reach their full potential.

“The rebuilding of our school is a commitment to excellence in education for all and in doing so we’re strengthening our community’s spirit,” he added.
