The Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor claims latest inflation data shows Labor is rigging the numbers.
The Federal Member for Hume said, the data shows the Albanese Labor Government has been hiding inflation, not fighting it.
He said, “The increase in electricity prices show Labor has spent billions of taxpayers’ dollars rigging the numbers rather than addressing inflation at the source. It’s a bandaid on a bullet wound.
“Underlying electricity prices are more than 32% higher than they were last election – Labor has done nothing to address the issues in our energy system”.
“Australian families and small businesses know this because they feel it every day in their bank accounts.
“With Labor promising another three years of deficits, the only way the government can continue to fund this accounting trick is at the expense of essential services for Australians.
“This shows not only has Labor failed to manage inflation, its failed to manage the budget.”, Mr Taylor said.
Meanwhile, Australians are suffering under the cumulative price increases they have seen from Labor’s economic mismanagement resulting in the largest collapse in living standards on record.
Since the election prices are up more than 10%. Double digit increases across the board for the essentials – food 12%, housing 13%, health 10%, education 11% and finance & insurance 18%.
The Member for Hume said, ” The government’s own numbers predict it’ll be at least 2030 before the ground Australians have lost under Labor is restored.
“While Australians are struggling with the cost of living, our Prime Minister would rather fight journalists than fight inflation.
“Australians want strong leadership to get Australia back on track and back to basics, which is what they’ll get under a Dutton-led government”.
“Listening to the Prime Minister this year, it’s clear Anthony Albanese has no idea what he would do in another three years in office.
“Australians cannot afford another three years of Labor”, Mr Taylor said.
